Ford India Private Limited, a subsidiary of the international auto giant the Ford Motors Limited, was initially known as Mahindra Ford India Limited. Later the Ford Motors increased their share and FIPL was formed in 1995. The first car from FIPL was the sedan Ford. The Ford India has the hatchback Figo, the sedan Fiesta, the Classic, the SUV EcoSport and the SUV Endeavour in their portfolio. Officially launched in 2010, Ford Figo received a significant facelift in 2012 and the next generation Figo is expected to hit the markets by the middle of this year. The Ford EcoSport is a 5-seater SUV launched in 2013. The sub-4 m car with a competitive pricing became a hit in the Indian market. There are 6 petrol and 4 diesel variants for the EcoSport. The top diesel variant, the Titanium TDCi (O), is priced at Rupees 10.14 lakh ex-showrooms. The EcoSport is powered by a 1498 cc, 89 bhp and 204 NM torque engine which gives mileages of 22.7 kmpl. The Fiesta is powered by a 1498 cc, 89 bhp and 204 NM torque engine giving mileages of 25.01 kmpl. The drive is 5 speed manual connected to the front wheels. The features of the Fiesta Titanium include 2 air bags, ABS, EBD, an automatic AC, power windows and a 2 Din music system.
The Ford Endeavour was launched in India in 2004. One of its bestselling SUV, the Ford Endeavour is currently in its second generation and the third generation is expected to be introduced in 2015. The Ford Endeavour is available in 2.5-litre diesel and 3.0-litre diesel engine options.
Ford cars are built to international quality standards, yet the needs and requirements of an Indian driver are taken care off. The FIPL has plans to launch the Figo 2015, the Figo Aspire sedan and the Endeavour Facelift in 2015.
